Friday, 5th of March was the date of release and it was just hours ago. Saw my name on the screen, well that was something i aimed up, but somehow my heart cracked. Strangely, everyone was cheering and happy that their names were up there, but I was hardly impressed with mine. I wanted higher, but well at that moment had to accept the fact. At least it stopped my heart from throbbing like there was a heart attack, haha. So I prayed that my results were consistent, hopefully not much fluctuations. CK, OKS, Rae, Winson and Andy names appeared on the screen, wow, extra congrats to all of you, two thumbs up! Haha.
Eventually, exited the hall and went to the concourse to collect our result slip. I got back mine, dank, E for gp, utterly disappointed with it. Tried so hard and all I got was an E which will pull all my other grades down. Liwen got her results back too, and she cried, ya I noticed all along okay. I just feel that you need some air first, so I didnt approach you immediately. Hope you feel alot better now while you're snoring lol. The rest got back their results too, some rejoice, some emo. Quite a sad day overall, well what can I expect?
Okay, time to get over it man. Congrats to those that improved and those that scored well and those that are satisfied with your results, I wish you all the best in getting into a course which you're interested in.
To those that didnt do so well or those emo-ing right now, dont give up people! Don't know how many people know of this or how many remember la, my pw group did a proj associated about David Lim, a Singaporean mountain climber. Search him up and read up on his life's story. I think David Lim is a perfect role model of someone who fails at first but picked himself up again and moved on in life.
David Lim was the leader of the 1998 Mt Everest expedition team, was the team managed to conquer Everest. But a week upon his return to singapore, he was diagnosed with GBS. It's some kind of illness that made him paralysed limbs down and have breathing problem. He had a close brush with death, but he survived, only to be met with greater obstacles. Now he couldnt write properly, he cant even dress himself well. I think we all know how embarrassing and gruelling it was for him back then. How will we feel if we're so helpless that we even need assisstances in dressing ourselves? So David Lim managed to recover, but not fully i think. But the recovery wasnt easy of course, he went through rehabs. If I remember correctly, he once wrote about how difficult it was for him to how an ordinary cup. But he never lost sight of what he wanted, which was to return to mountain climbing. So from a once paralysed man, he worked himself up through intensive training to get himself back onto the team. He eventually attempted to scale Everest again, but I think he had to give it up when he was like 90% there for some reason which I dont know lol.
So you see, I feel the completing of our A levels is similar to David Lim's conquerring of Everest and maybe the results that we got back was as pain as the GBS he contracted. So we're now 'paralysed' but we can still pick ourselves up right? It aint there end yet. If a disease can take away a man's mobility and he still manage to overcome it and scale Everest again, then what is set back in A levels compared to that GBS?
Cry the night away, moan till the sun rises for all want. But eventually you still need to move on cuz no one's gonna wait for you. So best that we just stand up, plan things out and continue with life while it last! No point crying for 10 years cuz it wont bring home a single bowl of rice.
The three most important things in life: Family and friends, Heath and your Work life. We can screw anything up, including the A levels, just not these three.
